Explorer yacht or research vessel?
Palumbo Group owned Columbus Yachts have revealed their latest concept for an explorer yacht named Tomahawk.
The 52m vessel was designed by long-term partner Marco Casali. Tomahawk is, in fact, a true research vessel disguised an explorer yacht. The naval architecture was developed in collaboration with naval specialist Insenaval.
The Tomahawk concept has been described as a yacht inside a ship because it balances exceptional levels of comfort with very good seakeeping qualities.
The impressive explorer yacht can accommodate ten guests in five cabins. The owner has a private stateroom of 75 square meters and a large private terrace.
The guest cabins are located on the lower deck. They have access to the beach club, gym, swimming pool. Also, the deck can be converted to basketball court. When not in use, the aft deck serves as storage space for two 12m tenders and four Jet Skis.
Power is provided by two MTU 12V 4000 M52R diesel engines. Top speed is 15.5 knots, but she will cruise at 14 knots. Maximum range will be achieved when the ship is throttled back at 12 knots.
