Columbus Yachts Will Bring the 40M Sport Hybrid Named Divine at Monaco Yacht Show 2016

Columbus 40M Sport Hybrid uses hybrid propulsion: electric and diesel power.

It's not new, but it still has striking looks. With a vertical bow and automotive-inspired lines, the Columbus 40M Sport Hybrid Yacht will be one of the stars of the Monaco Yacht Show this fall.

The italian builder Columbus is part of the Palumbo Group and this Sport Hybrid Yacht is one of the most impressive products they have on offer. M/Y Divine is the second hull in the 40M series. Is one of the few superyachts that use hybrid power. Along the classic pair of diesel engines, in this case two MTU units that push the boat to a top speed of 20 knots, Divine uses also two electric motors that gives complete silent navigation up to 8 knots.

Best fuel economy is achieved when cruising at 15 knots: 215 liters per hour for both engines. M/Y Divine is a semi-displacement, all-aluminium yacht. The interior spaces have been studied in a way to privilege the owner’s suite, which is just as large as those found on bigger yachts. The study of the layout included ensuring a fair balance between functional space for crew and guests, with smart solutions that include a VIP suite that could convert into two cabins, to satisfy the owner’s request for flexibility.

The external lines are aggressive and contemporary. They hide the large interior volumes and at the same time grant generous deck space that can easily be customized.
