Icon Yachts will convert an icebreaker into a luxury yacht

Codename Project Ragnar

Dutch yard Icon Yachts has a plan to convert a 68m icebreaker named Sanaborg into a luxury explorer yacht. The project is called Ragnar.

Sanaborg was built in 2012 from a steel hull and will receive an extreme makeover. The interior and exterior styling will be the work of British design studio RWD.

The conversion started in the summer of 2017 and it's due for completion in 2019. Project Ragnar will keep the Ice Class A1 hull, making the yacht ideal for exploring in freezing areas.

The explorer yacht will have accommodation for 16 guests in eight double cabins, including two owner's suites. On the amenities list there is a spa, massage room, and a Jacuzzi.

A large garage is available for all kind of toys, including a Ripsaw EV2 ATV, a Sea explorer submarine, two jet skis, a couple of RIBS and two eight metre tenders. The certified helipad will carry a Eurocopter EC 145.

Power for Project Ragnar is provided by two PC5 diesel electric pod-drive engines. Cruising range will be a world-exploring 6,000 nautical miles.
