Italian style, Scandinavian craftsmanship
No, it's not a Riva. In fact, it is not an Italian designed motor boat.
We are looking at beautiful vessels build in Sweden by J Craft. The design is surprisingly non-Scandinavian. The 42 feet (12.6 m) Torpedo is the classic model they build and it's quite a looker.
The Torpedo combines a fiberglass hull with traditional mahogany topside and interior. The craft has an open cockpit and a rear sun pad. If looked from above, the boat shows it's classic figure-eight shape. The style is inspired by the '50 and '60 classic wooden boats.
The Torpedo can comfortably sleep four adults plus one captain in two generous cabin areas. Both air conditioning and a heater are always available as options. The deck area can be shaded with the standard Bimini and there is an option to extend this to the aft, also covering the sun pad. For bad weather, an additional sprayhood and full cabrio cover can be specified.
Power is provided by a pair of Volvo Penta IPS 500 diesel engines which can push the boat to maximum speed of 44 knots. Cruise speed is 35 knots. J Craft Torpedo also uses the Volvo IPS transmission system, which makes docking easy by using a joystick. Prices start from 850,000 euro.
