A very special superyacht is in the final stages of build and trial.
Sailing Yacht A is a true sea monster, standing at 142 meters long and almost 100 meters tall, this impressive vessel was built by German yard Nobiskrug and is scheduled for delivery at the beginning of 2017. The exterior and interior styling is the work of French designer Philippe Starck.
The owner of Sailing Yacht A is Russian billionaire Andrey Melnichenko. He also owns another iconic craft: M/Y A, a special motor yacht built in 2008 by Blohm+Voss.
When launched, Sailing Yacht A will break a few records. She will become one of the largest superyachts in the world and she will have the largest carbon fibre masts ever installed on a private yacht.
According to boatinternational.com and superyachttimes.com, Sailing Yacht A will feature eight decks, more than 4,400 square meters of sails and a propulsion system that includes two MTU diesel engines of 4,896 hp each and two electric motors of 4.300 kW each.
She will reach a top speed of 21 knots, and a cruising speed of 16 knots. She also has a crew capacity of 54.
