i-Cockpit inspired powerboat cabin
French boatbuilder Beneteau has teamed up with car maker Peugeot to reveal a functional concept at Paris Boat Show.
Peugeot has become the latest car manufacturer to use its know-how in the nautical world. The designers of Peugeot and Beneteau have created the Sea Drive Concept, a glimpse in the the boating industry’s future steering station.
Peugeot has developed the i-Cockpit for the car industry. The system comprises several key features:
– A compact steering wheel, the smallest on the market in any segment, for easier handling;
– A head-up display displaying all relevant information in the driver's line of vision so they can keep their eyes on the road and concentrate on steering;
– A large touchscreen with intuitive controls for all comfort functions (radio, air-conditioning, etc.) making it easier to use all the on-board features.
This system is used on several Peugeot models like the 208, 308, 2008, 3008 and 5008.
On the Sea Drive Concept, the steering wheel is similar with the one used by the Peugeot models. The i-Cockpit trademark piano key switchgear is also present. A large 17-inch touchscreen is nestled to the left of the steering wheel.
The materials used are identical with the ones found on GT trim level cars: Nappa leather, copper-colored contrasting stitching, and satin chrome trim accents.
