Vard and Viking Cruises sign contract for two cruise ships

Viking could enter the expedition cruise market

After signing a letter of intent in April 2018, Vard shipyards and Viking Cruises have confirmed the signing of a contract for building two new cruise ships.

The value of the contract is NOK 5 billion, approximately US$ 611 million.

The technical details for the two new ships are not yet disclosed, but the rumors are saying that Viking could be constructing its first expedition cruise ships as Vard is a major specialist in this area.

The two cruise ships are scheduled for delivery in 2021 and 2022. The hulls are built by Vard in Romania, while the outfitting will be completed in Norway.
