18+ only
The first cruise ship for Virgin Voyages will be an adults-only vessel. Virgin Voyages is the latest cruise line company, part of the Virgin Group owned by business mogul Richard Branson.
The keel laying ceremony for the first Virgin Voyages ship took place at Italian shipyard Fincantieri in Genoa in the presence of Richard Branson and Tom McAlpin, president and CEO of Virgin Voyages. The yet unnamed cruise ship will host 2,860 passengers, adults only. This is the latest move in an attempt to target Millennials.
86% of the cabins will have balconies and 93% will have an ocean view.
The ship livery is inspired by the company's airline Virgin America and will boast the mermaid guide icon. The new vessel is scheduled for launch in 2020 and she will be the first from a fleet of three vessels which will sail Caribbean itineraries.
